This is two separate assignments that are related and build off of one another. Assignment 1: MAX 200 words – no formatting needed The large hubs of Atlanta, Dallas, Chicago, and others are well known but few have heard of Fort Smith, Florence or Valdosta Regional airports unless they live in the geographic region. Smaller airports are critical connections in commercial airline service but leadership often has the impression they have little influence over airline levels of service. Identify a small airport fitting the above criteria and served by only one airline. Suggest at least two solutions airport management could use to increase service levels by the airline. In other words, how can the airport entice the airline to offer more flights? Assignment 2 – MAX 400 words Continuing with the topic in this week’s discussion board, conduct a SWOT analysis of your chosen airport. In addition, determine the airport’s primary competitor and conduct a competitor analysis to include the following: Flight frequencies, seasonal vs. year-round Alternative/Combination transportation: port, rail Significant events affecting airport traffic (construction, congestion, distance) Substantial sporting tournaments or events Other significant events – state fairs, trade shows, etc. Military base – personnel movements Note: Both the SWOT analysis and Competitor analysis may be presented in a table format. However, be sure to include an overview in an opening paragraph and in a closing paragraph. Make sure that you summarize the results.
